The Wairoa Center in Hilo and the Hawaii Island Art Alliance are now accepting proposals from local sculptors on the Big Island of Hawaii for a new “sculpture garden” outside the doors of the Wairoa Center’s Lower Lanai area.
There are four areas where you can place outdoor sculptures made from durable, weather-resistant materials. The sculpture is attached to fixed anchors (bolted concrete bases).
Anchor specifications are available upon request.
The artist is responsible for the installation of the sculpture. The Artist also agrees to follow the guidelines provided by the Wairoa Center Her Coordinator. Additionally, you agree to abide by all policies governing buildings in the State of Hawaii.
The selection committee’s goal is to curate cohesive 3D artwork by one or four artists. By agreement, art can be stored at the location for up to one year.
Sculptures are available for sale through the Big Island Art Alliance.
Artists interested in applying for this opportunity should contact the Wailoa Center at wailoaartculturalcenter@gmail.com or call (808) 933-0416 to request an application. Applications are also posted on the Wairoa Center website www.wailoacenter.com.
Applications must be submitted by Thursday, December 22nd.
