In a statement posted on social media today (December 18), Joel wrote: Concerts at Madison Square Garden until June.

“I’m sorry to inform you that the performance date is approaching, but I thought I was close to full recovery by now. Sadly, that has not happened. I look forward to seeing you in the new year. “

Tomorrow’s canceled show has been rescheduled for Friday, June 2nd, as confirmed on Joel’s website. It is the 91st generation.

The generational rock icon has played a total of 131 shows to date, holding the record for most shows played at an equally legendary venue (behind the Grateful Dead in second place). more than double the 53 performances). ). The last time Joel was there was on November 23rd, after which he performed in Auckland and Melbourne earlier this month.

Joel’s next scheduled show will also take place at Madison Square Garden. Prior to his make-up date on June 2nd, he will perform at the venue on his Friday, January 13th, Tuesday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day), Sunday, March 26th, and Saturday, April 22nd. As of this writing, the show on June 2nd is the last day of the residency.

At the show at the venue on Aug. 24, Joel welcomed Olivia Rodrigo, who performed “Uptown Girl” and her own song, “Deja Vu.”

Joel will also perform in Florida, Ontario, Texas, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Ohio, Missouri and Massachusetts. Outside of North America, Joel was recently announced as the latest headliner for his 2023 program at BST Hyde Park. He will appear in the series on his Friday 7th July, which will be his only UK performance this year.

Meanwhile, a biopic based on Joel’s life and career is currently in development, although it has not received Joel’s personal involvement or approval.
