Jamie and Brian’s Callihan home was named Garden of the Month for January by the Stem and Stamen Garden Club.
We all experience severe freezing damage, but the Callihan bed suffered minimal damage. The beds were well prepared and the grooves effectively distributed the water to prevent root exposure.
Tall shrubs surrounding the home include cedar, cypress, holly, magnolia, sky pencil holly, sweet olive and boxwood.
Shorter plants that accent the color are knockout roses, pansies, peter pan agapanthus and dwarf gardenias. Jamie does most of the work himself and is very keen to plant more flowers from his greenhouse.
The Amite Stem and Stamen Garden Club was organized in 1952 and federated in 1953. We are affiliated with the National Garden Club, the Deep South Region, the Louisiana Garden Club Federation and the District VI L. Garden Club Federation. We are committed to beautifying Amite and appreciate the businesses and homeowners who are working to beautify our neighborhoods.
