Homeless Garden Project Hosts Service Day

The Homeless Garden Project will host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day for community members on January 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Homeless Garden Project Farm on Shaffer Road, Santa Cruz .

The project invites communities to participate in winter farming activities to prepare for spring planting. The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is an annual event that encourages community members to volunteer in their community.

Volunteers have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects on the farm. As a small production farm, this project adjusts farm tasks depending on the weather. If it rains on January 16th, the event will be moved to January 21st.

Volunteers should bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Closed-toe shoes are required. Lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.
