Coral Gables resident to appeal denial of historical designation for Garden of Our Lord

Coral Gables, Florida – The battle continues to protect the long-standing Coral Gables Gardens.

On Monday afternoon, Bonnie Bolton submitted a notice to challenge the Historic Preservation Commission’s decision earlier this month to deny the Garden of Our Road historic designation.

A spokesperson for the city of Coral Gables told Local 10 News that city officials confirmed they had been notified.

Century Homebuilders Group issued a statement last week following protests from some residents after property owners removed military tribute stamps and historic plaques during the appeal period.

“The plaque is currently stored in the adjacent church, where it is being cleaned and restored. We plan to put it back in place by Monday at the latest.”

Bolton told Local 10 News that the historic plaque on the exterior wall was still gone when she last checked on Monday.

Local 10 News is awaiting a response after seeking a statement from the property owner’s legal representative.
