Cornell extension offers Garden Talk series

Join Genesee County Master Gardeners for our monthly garden talk program beginning at noon on February 2nd. Master Gardener Connie B. hosts ‘Hidcote and Hever, Two English Gardens of Renown’. Escape the winter with this he armchair adventure through two stunning English gardens.

March 2 – “Kitchen Gardens” by Master Gardener Cathy W. No, they’re not your kitchen gardens! Join us for a little history, a little design, and to find out what a home garden is and what you can plant in your home garden.

April 6 – “Start the compost pile”. Making your own compost is a fun and rewarding activity. May 4 – Master Gardener Brandie W. with Houseplants 101″ Houseplants aren’t a new concept, but they’re booming in popularity these days. Houseplants are a great way to decorate your home and connect with nature. Proud Plants Parenting is not as hard as you might think, and we’ll cover basic houseplant care, including choosing the right plants, light, watering, fertilizing, and when to repot.

June 1 – ‘A Summer Palette of Native Plants for Monarchs’ is our third Garden Talk with Master Gardener Pam M discussing ways to help monarch butterflies. Adult monarch butterflies feed on flower nectar and require a delicious buffet as they migrate north from their wintering grounds in Mexico. Garden talk programs begin at noon and are 30-60 minutes long, depending on topic. The series is free and open to the public, but registration is required. You can join us at the CCE office (420 East Main Street, Batavia) or in person via Zoom.
