Dual-sport athlete AJ Vinson signs with Garden City to continue football career

SOCIAL CIRCLE, GA — Social Circle’s AJ Vinson wrote a letter Wednesday afternoon of his intention to play football at the next level. Vinson announced he had committed just one day before the Redskins’ national signing date to play at Garden City Community College.

The announcement and signing come after a long career with Social Circle that saw Vinson shine

both in football, basketball and track and field.

During his last two years in the social circle, Vinson helped the football team to multiple playoff appearances, reaching the Final Four of the state playoffs as a member of the Redskins basketball team.

Vinson’s decision to stick with football and dedicate himself to Garden City was a difficult one, but Vinson chose football with the possibility of playing basketball in college.

“Playing basketball and track made me better at football,” Vinson said. “It would be difficult not to play all three sports in college, but I would graduate if given the chance.”

Vinson’s play on Friday night played a big role in the Social Circle’s playoff run. Vinson protected Rob Patton his head coach offensive his line anchor and his fellow signer Logan his cross.

Following his senior season, Vinson earned a spot on the Region 5A-Division I First Team for his performances.

When deciding to play football at the next level, Vinson saw what it took from Garden City to decide to play college football for the Bronxbusters.

“my everything [Social Circle] coach taught me how good [Garden City] I spent a lot of time reviewing them. “Coach Patton helped me talk to all the coaches.”

When discussing his legacy as a Social Circle student-athlete, Vinson has a clear picture of what he wants to be remembered for.

“[I want to be remembered] As one of the big guys who played for Social Circle, he’s going to be big one day,” Vinson said.
