Garden City Board Of Education Honors Exceptional Athletes


GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — At the Garden City Board of Education meeting on December 20, School District Superintendent Dr. – Together with Murray, awarded Fall Student Athletes at Garden City High School. Their many achievements in the fall sports season.

The women’s varsity field hockey team was recognized for earning the title of New York State finalist for the second year in a row after winning the Nassau County and Long Island County Class B Championships.

The Garden City High School football team was honored with the Long Island Championship for the second year in a row.

Grade 11 tennis player Nina Weisse finished third as a singles player for Nassau County. She also competed at the New York State Championships, finishing fifth.

Competitive swimmers Amanda Baker, Mia Brita, Madison Connor, Caroline Crouchley and Kathryn Pomeroy have qualified for the New York State Championships in Rochester. Specifically, Madison Connor has qualified in four events and at the championship she has medaled in two events.

Finally, the Cross County team was honored to have won the Nassau County State Class B Qualifier. It was his first time since 2012 that Garden City Cross Country qualified as a team for the New York State Championships. The state championship saw his seven runners: Daniel Butt, Alex Colletti, Dean Colletti, Colin Crane, Patrick Egan, Ryan McAleer and Tyler McAleer.
