Garden Valley couple facing child, animal abuse charges


A Dec. 20 raid resulted in the arrest of two Garden Valley residents and found five children and various animals living in neglected conditions, according to the Eldorado County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Detectives, working with El Dorado County Animal Services, executed a search warrant at the Beehive Court home and reportedly found a number of animals that appeared to be malnourished and neglected. child was found living in a condition described by investigators as being neglected.

Parents Jamie Gray, 40, and Daniel Gray, 39, were arrested and charged with five counts of child endangerment and three counts of animal cruelty, respectively, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release. . Jamie and Daniel’s bail was set at his $300,000, according to arrest documents. The two have been released from prison and will face preliminary hearings in early January.

Sheriff officials reported that five children were placed in Child Protective Services custody.

Four adult dogs, four puppies, two parakeets, several pigs, a chicken, a turkey and a duck were removed from the home and property by animal services staff and are now in their care, according to the Eldorado County Animal Service Commissioner.
