Man Pushed Garden City Hotel Employee In Argument: Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incident in the week ending Jan. 10.

January 2nd

• A package was reported stolen from a residential slouchy on Nassau Boulevard.

January 4th

• Officers found and arrested a 40-year-old man on 7th Avenue after stealing multiple items from CVS.
• Several fraudulent withdrawals totaling $8,000 were reportedly made to the victim’s bank account.
• Firefighters and police are dispatched to the spark dryer residence. Firefighters made the area safe.
• A Hilton Avenue driver has been charged with driving without a license and passing a stop sign.

January 5th

• The vehicle reportedly left the scene after colliding with another vehicle on Stewart Avenue.
• A New Hyde Park Road driver has been charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding in a school zone.
• A driver on Stewart Avenue and Brompton Road has been charged with reckless driving.

January 6

• Witnesses saw a man get into a car on Magnolia Street and take away the property. Police searched the area but did not find him.
• A man staying at a Residence Inn found money missing from his room safe.
• Officers are investigating multiple reports of suspicious individuals traversing the St. Paul’s Place driveway.
• Two Clinton Road truck drivers have been charged with license suspension and equipment violations.
• Personal identities were stolen and used to change addresses for online financial accounts.

January 7

• After breaking the back window of a car in Carteret Place and trying to break in, someone took belongings from the car.
• While patrolling St. Paul’s Cathedral, police found graffiti on the brick pillar at the entrance to Stewart Avenue.
• A Clinton Road driver has been charged with driving with a suspended license and going through a red light.
• A St. James Street North driver has been charged with driving while his license is suspended and passing a stop sign.
• Police are investigating reports of fraudulent activity against victims’ Coinbase accounts.
• Police are investigating a drop box at the Franklin Avenue Post Office that may have been tampered with by two men.

January 10th

• A Garden City organization reported a $7,800 loss after fraudulent checks were cashed against its bank account.
• The Clinton Road driver was charged with a suspended license and driving with defective equipment.
• Victims’ identities were stolen and used to open fraudulent bank accounts.
• The victim received a call that appeared to be a charity he had donated to in the past. Following the instructions, the victim deposited the check into an unknown account. Officers investigating the incident determined it was a scam and helped the victim cancel the check before it could be cashed.
• The vehicle left the scene after it reportedly hit an unmanned vehicle parked at Garden City Plaza.
• Firefighters and police were called to the residence due to the smell of natural gas. Firefighters determined that the gas level in the house was high due to a burner problem. They made the burners safe and ventilated the house.
• Firefighters and police responded to residential fire alarms. Upon arrival, firefighters extinguished a small oven.
