“LongReach Arts is a co-operative of artists of all sensibility,” said show attendee Pepper-Cooper in a press release. “They agreed on the theme of I Dreamed a Garden, but their approaches to it were markedly different.”
According to the organizers, some took the theme literally, while others took it metaphorically, researching what the garden meant to them. Others took things from the city-dweller’s perspective and showed the only garden option open to city-dwellers: flowers in vases.
“What unites these artists is their passion for their work, and what sets them apart is their skill in their respective modes of work,” said Pepper Cooper.
Participating artists in the exhibition include Deborah Bain, David Curtis, Cynthia R. Dill, Carolyn Edlund, Staats Fasolt, Stacey Flint, Claudia Gorman, Trina Green, Carol Loisides, and Ellen Metzger O’Shea. , Bacha Ruth Nelson, Nancy Scott, Marlene Wiedenbaum, and Carol Wolfe.
Founded in 1982, Longreach Arts is named after the ‘Long Reach’, a long river that can be navigated without a tack.
