‘Plant it for the planet’ – Juniper Level Botanic Garden announces 2023 Open Garden weekends

The Historic Panther Branch Rosenwald School, adjacent to the Juniper Level Botanical Gardens, offers public tours during Winter Open Garden weekends.

Raleigh, N.C., Feb. 1, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Juniper Level Botanic Garden, a gift to North Carolina State University, will open for self-guided tours, expert talks and seasonal flowers throughout 2023. , the purchase of plants.

“We have two weekends scheduled each season,” says founder and owner Tony Avent. “Our Winter Open Garden is scheduled from February 24th to 26th and he from March 3rd to his 5th.”

“There are an incredible number of plants in the winter garden, in shape, texture and flowering. It doesn’t have to be, this is what your landscape looks like.

With a botanical collection of over 27,000 species, the Juniper Level Botanical Garden’s mission is to collect, preserve and share it with the world. To date, Garden has shipped over 3 million of her plants to all 50 states and he to 41 countries.

“Plant for the planet,” suggests Avent. “Almost 40% of the world’s plant diversity is threatened with extinction.”

The Panther Branch Rosenwald School, adjacent to the Juniper Level Botanical Gardens in southern Wake County, is open to the public on Winter Open Garden weekends. The colonial school, built in 1926, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Wake County Historic Landmark.

The Panther Branch Rosenwald School was restored by the Juniper Level Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend Jeffrey B. Robinson. The school is he one of over 5,000 schools built in the southern United States to improve educational opportunities for African American children.

The Rosenwald Project was a major initiative by Julius Rosenwald, chairman of Sears, Roebuck and Company, and Booker T. Washington, the original leader of the Tuskegee Institute.

“We are lucky to have the Panther Branch Rosenwald School within walking distance of the garden,” says Avent. “We are excited to work with Pastor Robinson and his team to enhance the landscape of this newly restored landmark of national significance.

The Juniper Level Botanical Garden is a 28-acre non-profit educational, research and exhibition garden. Founded in 1986, Garden is an institutional member of the American Public Gardens Association.

“The Juniper Level Botanical Garden will be open to the public full-time once the North Carolina State University endowment is fully funded,” added Avent. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Endowment Fund of North Carolina State University, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Donors will receive an official receipt for their contribution to the fund.
