Garden City led 7-2, but the Cougars finished the quarter with six straight points. The Northwest extended their run in the first basket of the second quarter, holding the Buffaloes to four free throws in the period. The Cougars led 16-11 at halftime.
Garden City trailed by seven points late in the third quarter, but narrowed the deficit to three points late in the game, 27-24.
