Storm Lake, IA gets grant to help build ‘Harmony Garden’ in downtown area


Storm Lake, Iowa (KTIV) – A town in northwestern Iowa received nearly $50,000 in grants to move toward a new gathering place for all residents.

On Dec. 15, T-Mobile announced that Storm Lake will be awarded one of its “hometown grants,” which will be used to help build Harmony Gardens. The facility, which will be built in downtown Storm Lake, will feature outdoor musical instruments representing multiple cultures, game tables, covered areas, and outdoor electronics charging.

“The Harmony Gardens project is a great opportunity to develop a gathering place in the downtown Storm Lake area. It will be great fun for people of all ages and backgrounds,” said Storm Lake Mayor Mike Porsche. “The instrument makes for a very sensory and interactive experience.

T-Mobile’s Hometown Grants program launched in April 2021. This is his five-year, $25 million initiative to help small towns across the United States.This grant aims to provide funding to help kickstart community development projects

Since the program’s inception, T-Mobile has donated more than $6.8 million to 150 communities in 41 states. T-Mobile said on December 15th he gave all 25 grants to different towns, but Storm Lake is one of them.
