More than 500,000 lights brighten up Longwood Gardens this holiday season.

On Friday, Wright was named best in the country.

The Kennett Square site won Best Botanical Holiday Lights in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice contest. This is the fifth time the school has won the award.

Longwood Gardens competed with nine other gardens with holiday lights, from Gardens Aglow at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to River of Lights at ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A panel of experts and 10Best editors selected the nominees. The top 10 were chosen by popular vote.

Holiday lights at Longwood Gardens are inspired by botanical splendor. It will run until January 8th. Let’s take a look at the lights and quizzes.

Longwood Gardens celebrates the holidays with lots of lights. It covers tunnels, wraps around tall trees, floats on water, and hangs overhead.

Dutch Wonderland was also named the best theme park holiday event for the second year in a row. Dutch Winter Wonderland on this site put him in 10th place in the contest.

Lancaster County has had several winners in past Readers’ Choice Awards.
