For the fifth year in a row, Saturday, January 14, 2023, the Piedmont Botanical Gardens (BGP) honored the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. of our community partners. On this official day of service, we were proud to work with the community to continue the transformation of the botanic garden’s south side. We would like to thank the caring, energetic and dedicated volunteers who created a gathering place and supported our dedicated team. Also, Bartlett Tree Experts, who once again worked with us to keep us safe while pruning trees and crushing debris, and from the Melbourne Road side of the gardens, who transported equipment, loaned equipment, and trained experts. Thanks to JW Townsend Landscaping for advice and specific assistance. Removal of alien species. This year Public Lands stepped up and provided delicious treats to take home with the volunteers. Thanks to Great Harvest Bread Company for providing baked goods to keep workers. Come visit us in our community and see the amazing results we have achieved. The Garden is located at 950 Melbourne Road and is open from dawn to dusk. Trail maps are available at the kiosk. Until the creek is repaired and bridged, access to the south side of the creek is from the skate park side of McIntyre Park. Explore the paved paths and contemplate the future for all of us at the Botanical Gardens of Piedmont. For more information, please visit our company’s website www.piedmontgarden.org.
