NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A woman is in custody after a murder in the Lower Gardens district in December, according to New Orleans police.
NOPD has arrested 26-year-old Cash Shelton in the incident. On December 27, 2022, officers responded to reports of a shooting that opened in his 300 block on Julia Street. When they arrived, a 29-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to hospital by EMS, but died from his injuries. An investigation revealed that Shelton was responsible and an arrest warrant was issued.
On Sunday (January 22nd), Shelton was located on St. Tammany Parish with the help of Crimestoppers tips. Her sheriff’s office has arrested her and detained her as a fugitive in St. Her Tammany Parish, awaiting extradition to New Orleans.
Cash Shelton is currently charged with second-degree murder.
